Grab your coffee or tea, and join your mentoring program peers and MENTOR Virginia on Wednesday, November 8th from 9:00 – 10:00 am for Community Coffee Hour. We’ll be joined by Bianca Myrick of Pretty Purposed and Tammie Mobley of R.E.A.L. Girlz for a discussion on Incorporating Youth Voice in Program Operations.

MENTOR Virginia will virtually host Community Coffee Hour every 2nd Wednesday of the month with mentoring program staff to create space for peer-to-peer learning and resource sharing, and to address issues you and your organization might be facing during the pandemic and beyond. Meet Our Guest Speakers:

Petersburg, Virginia native, Bianca Myrick is a mother, daughter, sister, and connector of people and resources. She is the founder and executive director of Pretty Purposed, a non-profit organization that inspires communities to empower young women and girls through girl centered social emotional learning, mentorship, and enrichment. As a former 5th and 6th grade educator, Bianca saw a need in her community to cultivate joyful spaces for girls, which propelled her into starting Pretty Purposed, which now supports over 175 girls across multiple communities. The recent Style Weekly Top 40 Under 40 (2023) recipient is also executive director of the Virginia Association for Environmental Education. Through her consulting business and work at Mentor Virginia, Bianca supports organizations in the areas of youth and organizational development. She is a graduate of Virginia State University, where she is also an adjunct professor, teaching her students about the nonprofit sector, education, social change, and philanthropy. In addition to being a nonprofit leader, she dedicates her time advocating for funding for Black and Brown led organizations, as a founding board member and Vice President of Collective 365, a grant- making entity that has freely moved $55,000 in funding to Black and Brown led businesses, organizations, and movements, since its launch in June of 2020.

Tammie Mobley is the owner of Flawless Imperfections, LLC. She provides empowerment and relationship coaching to women, teens, and youth development organizations. Over the past 15 years, she has empowered women through coaching, public speaking, and domestic violence peer counseling. She has facilitated hundreds of workshops on healthy relationships, conflict resolution, effective communication, teen dating violence, and sexual responsibility. Through her work as Youth Programs Director, Tammie has delivered training to over 500 youth annually. Her previous employment includes working as a field manager under the Prison Rape Elimination Act traveling to youth correctional facilities throughout the United States, conducting interviews with adjudicated youth.

Tammie is the founder/leader of R.E.A.L Girlz, a character, leadership and empowerment group for middle and high school girls. The program is offered to middle and high school girls in the City of Richmond and Henrico County Public Schools. IG @r.e.a.l_girlz  Tammie is the weekly radio talk show host of Curative Conversations on 101.3 fm. The live radio program offers guests a safe space to talk, heal, and inspire.

Tammie has received several awards for her commitment and dedication to the community. “The Educator Serving the Community Award,” “Circle of Grace Award,” “Woman of Inspiration Award,” and “Remarkable Woman 2022 Award.”  Her public speaking engagements have included Dwight C. Jones Mayors Day of Recognition, AmeriCorps State and National Symposium, and the National Governors Wives Association Winter Meeting.
