September Community Coffee Hour

September 15 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Registration for this meeting is required: register here.

Grab your coffee or tea, and join your mentoring program peers and MENTOR Virginia on Wednesday, September 15 from 9:00 – 10:00 am for Community Coffee Hour. We’ll be discussing how to build networks with families and programs. We’ll be joined by two guest speakers, who will each discuss building networks from different perspectives. Jose Martinez from Casa Chirilagua will share information about how they build meaningful relationships with families and the broader community, and how that enables them to provide culturally relevant mentoring to their youth. Rondell Davis from Another Level Youth & Family Services will talk about the strategy he has used to build relationships with other youth-serving programs to form stronger referral and resource networks for youth.

Please note that September’s coffee hour will be on the third Wednesday of the month rather than the second to accommodate the return to school.

MENTOR Virginia will virtually host Community Coffee Hour every 2nd Wednesday of the month with mentoring program staff to create space for peer-to-peer learning and resource sharing, and to address issues you and your organization might be facing during the pandemic and beyond. We hope to see you at an upcoming Community Coffee Hour!

About the Presenters:

As a first generation Salvadorean-American, Jose Martinez was raised in the Northern Virginia area. He has attended Northern Virginia Community College and currently attends George Mason University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science. Jose believes that positive influences help shape perspectives. He facilitates this by matching youth in the Chirilagua neighborhood to adult mentors while building relationships with families, volunteers and schools.

Rondell Davis is the Chief Operating Officer at Another Level Youth & Family Services where he oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions. Rondell believes that the lives of young people can be impacted through counseling, compassion, and commitment. In addition to being COO he’s also a certified life coach that specializes in Overcoming Self-Sabotage. He’s a native of Wakefield VA and in his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer, mountain views and good food.
