February Community Coffee Hour
February 10 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 amFree
Grab your coffee or tea, and join your mentoring program peers and MENTOR Virginia on Wednesday, February 10 from 9:00 – 10:00 am for Community Coffee Hour. We will be discussing Mentoring Strategies to Build on Youth Assets.
During this Coffee Hour, three organizations who are doing great work building on youth assets have agreed to share their stories and strategies with the field!
- Tricia Howell and Yvonnia Bryant will be sharing C4K’s strategies for leveraging youth voice in their mentoring program (including how they have involved youth in presenting at the National Mentoring Summit and advocating at Capitol Hill Day). They will also discuss how focusing on youth voice has positively impacted and contributed to asset-building for youth in the program.
- Lerone Joseph will be sharing about how the Mayor’s Youth Academy built and launched a youth council, how they have supported youth activism and civic engagement through the youth council, and how these efforts have positively impacted youth asset-building.
- Ashley Short and Vaughn Garland will be sharing about how Art 180 has formed partnerships with various community groups and individuals in service of providing asset-building arts opportunities to young people. Additionally, they will provide tips on how mentoring programs can form partnerships with groups like Art 180.
Registration for this meeting is required (see below under Website).
MENTOR Virginia will be hosting a Community Coffee Hour on the 2nd Wednesday of each month to create space for Virginia-based mentoring programs to share with and learn from one another. These meetings are intended for mentoring program staff or board members only.
