SUMMARY:January CMWS: Building Your Program: Program Development from the Ground Up
DESCRIPTION:Addressing the fundamentals of how to develop a youth mentoring program\, this is the first in a series of three webinars on grassroots mentoring. This workshop is helpful to those new to mentoring along with individuals who wish to enhance their grasp of the basics. Presenters begin by describing the initial design process\, to include making decisions on the mentoring model\, size of the program\, as well as staffing and other resources needed. Facilitators go on to discuss how to use documents such as Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring to create a smooth-running operational system. They also describe essential forms and other materials\, along with the trainings typically furnished to program participants. This webinar focuses on how to gain the expertise needed for directing a youth mentoring initiative. Attendees will leave this workshop with increased confidence\, and with a better understanding of how to design and implement a safe and effective mentoring program. \nRegister to attend!

DESCRIPTION:MENTOR’s Capitol Hill Day brings together stakeholders from across the youth mentoring movement\, including mentoring program staff\, volunteer mentors\, funders\, researchers and public officials who have seen firsthand the positive impact a caring adult mentor can have in the life of a young person. \nAdvocates participating in Capitol Hill Day travel to DC a day early to attend an in-person training and meeting and networking with peers from across the country. This year\, advocates will hear from young people\, elected leaders and a panel of Congressional staff about the impact they can have. \nTHIS EVENT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS.
