Every January, as part of the National Mentoring Summit in Washington D.C., advocates for the field of youth mentoring gather from all across the country to take advocacy meetings on the Hill with lawmakers. The purpose of Capitol Hill Day is to generate buzz and raise awareness for the benefits of youth mentoring as well as the need for increased funding and resources to support the field.

As in past years, MENTOR Virginia is leading a delegation of advocates up to Washington D.C. for Capitol Hill Day 2020, which will be happening on Wednesday, January 29th. If you or someone you know may be interested in taking meetings on the Hill with lawmakers to talk about youth mentoring on Capitol Hill Day 2020, email Sarah at sarah@mentorva.org. We are actively seeking advocates!

All meetings on Capitol Hill Day will be scheduled by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, and optional talking points will also be provided. Here’s a full look at what will be expected of advocates who wish to participate in Capitol Hill Day:

  • January 6, 2020 from 3:30-5pm: Capitol Hill Day Webinar (required for participants)
